The future was on full display this past weekend at the Phenom QC Showcase, as young prospects from across the region stepped into the spotlight and made their presence felt. With talent spread across multiple age groups, it was clear that the next wave of players is already beginning to separate themselves with their skill, confidence, and overall feel for the game. From dynamic guards creating off the bounce to versatile forwards impacting both ends, the event provided a strong look at emerging names that college programs will want to start tracking early. Phenom Hoops continues to provide a platform where exposure becomes a reality, and this weekend once again highlighted just how bright the future is.

2030 Travis Kershaw (Rock Nation)

Kershaw was a young prospect who captured my eyes with his size and impact. As a young prospect, he has a good frame early on and was an effective option around the basket but also impacted the game in other ways. He brings strong physicality at a young age and is one to keep an eye on as he develops, gets bigger and stronger, and adds more to his game.

2033 Ethan Mutumbo (The Village)

Just a young big man but Mutumbo was a strong force for his team to take home the championship. He has great size and a long frame at his age, allowing him to impact the game on both ends. He finished well around the basket, scoring through contact, getting to the line, and being active both offensively and defensively.

2033 Nazar Welch (Team Unleashed)

Another big that really grabbed our attention, Welch has great size for someone his age and he used that in a big way to be a big force. He was a double-double machine for his team, rebounding and scoring with no one really stopping him.  Welch clearly looks the part at an early age as a prospect to monitor down the road.

2032 Aiden Wright (1of1 National)

Wright was something special and clearly has put his name as a player to watch. Wright has size and such a feel for the game with the ball in his hands, being able to create off the bounce, score in a variety of ways, knock down shots, and also facilitate. He was also a strong defensive presence.

2032 Jordan Hobbs (1of1 National)

Starting to see a trend of young bigs that grabbed our attention at the event and Hobbs was another one. The young big man has a great frame already and surprised us with his athleticism, being able to block and alter shots as well as be a physical presence in finishing around the basket. There is a lot to like about his potential as he develops more at his position.

2031 Ashtyn Young (CSF)

Young was able to showcase more of his talents as a young prospect, being able to effectively score and create for himself. Time after time, he was able to put pressure on the defense and make plays, leading the team on a few occasions as the go-to offensive weapon. He has some early tools with his game that he should only build off of down the road.
