The stars were out at the Phenom May Madness in Bermuda Run, as we welcomed in two of the top prospects in the country to the court. Last week, ESPN recently released their Top 25 players in the class of 2028, as we get an early look at the premier talent coming through the states in the coming years.

2028 6’9 Bentley Lusakueno was ranked as the No. 1 player in the country, as he has been on full display with Phenom Hoops over the last month with CP3. He was back at it again at the May Madness, with buzz surrounding the courts with his latest ranking. 2028 6’6 Mason Collins was another player from North Carolina, coming in at No. 20. He also suited up for CP3 and showed why his game has him ranked so high early on.

We dive into each of their games below, as these two will be names you hear about A LOT in the coming years.

2028 6’9 Bentley Lusakueno (CP3)

It was a big week for Lusakueno, not only coming in and looking to make another statement on a big platform at the Phenom May Madness but also being named the No. 1 player in the Class of 2028 early on by ESPN. The 6’9 prospect certainly fits the frame in being ranked as one of the top prospects in the country, especially with his size, length/wingspan, impact and versatility, overall skillset, and his potential. Lusakueno’s fluidity in being able to operate inside with post moves and feel in the paint, as well as popping out with his perimeter game, certainly brings a ton of intrigue, as well as his ability to create off the bounce. You add in his mobility, his ability to run the floor, and an impressive impact on the defensive end, Lusakueno has all the tools to be something special.

2028 6’6 Mason Collins (CP3)

Collins was another who had a big week and ultimately a big month. We were excited to see what Collins was going to be able to do this summer, now that he is in the clear role as a leader on the court. The 6’6 prospect has an incredible feel and the spotlight is on him now, as he brings such value in so many areas of the court. It is why he was ranked as a Top 20 prospect in the country. The blend of size, scoring capability from the perimeter, athleticism in getting to the rim, decision-making and facilitating, and impact on the defensive end, Collins offers so much for his team and should only get better as he adds more reps and time on the court. He is clearly looking like the top prospect in North Carolina early on, as he made that statement at the Phenom May Madness.
