Kevin's Fab 5 -NC Jr. Phenom Camp Session 1

5'5 2024 Caleb Jenkins: Bates Middle School (Sumter SC)

Jenkins did amazing job at getting paint touches all day long, making all the right plays and setting his teammates up for easy buckets. Not the biggest guard at the event but that didn't matter no one was able to stay in front of him in a half court setting. Defensively he is disruptive full court and is very vocal.

5'5 2023 Angelo Alexander: Francis Bradley Middle School (Charlotte NC)

Alexander is another one of those quick smaller guards that was hard to stay in front of. Alexander 1stcaught my eye in 1 on 1 drills where he was flat out ungradable. On the 5 straight shots he made they all came off 1 and 2 dribble moves no wasted dribbles and multiple finishes at rim reverse layups, up and under and pull ups. During game setting he showcased that he could do more than get to rim, when guys played back off him he showed that he has consistent range out to the 3-point line.

5'9 2023 Kaden Ross: Ridge Rd Middle School (Charlotte NC)

Every class in NC Charlotte is well represented and for 2023 it's no different. Ross is a combo guard who is very confident in his game. Ross was able to use his length and size to overpower smaller guards and create contact. He is a playmaker who is very accurate in the mid-range area which is his bread butter. Once he becomes a better shooter from the 3-point line I believe his game will go to an even higher level.

5'11 2023 Malik Brunson: Luther Nick Jeralds Middle (Fayetteville NC)

I'm going to say this first, there'must be something in the water in Fayetteville. Over the years they have produced some talented kids and the thing they all have in common they all play HARD! Mr. Brunson is no different, he is built like a running back and he is all downhill once he has the ball in his hand. He is what you call a bull in a china shop. Bruson has one thing in mind and that's to bully you to rim or bully you on defense. Malik was the hardest playing kid I seen today, you win with kids like this. If he wasn't scoring he was rebounding, locking down on defense, chasing down someone for a block or diving on the floor for a loose ball. Right now, he an athlete who is further ahead on defense than he is on offense.

6'5 2023 Landon Johnson: Calvary Day School (Clemmons NC)

I'm not sure what position Landon is all I know is he is a player. What impressed me the most was that he is a willing defender who wasn't scared to guard anyone even the quick guards full court. Landon had his most success today near the basket and high post area. If Landon continues to work on his wing skills, you will have one of the biggest kids in the 336 area on the wing and if I'm a coach at Calvary I'm loving our future.NC
