Kyle Rawson is an intriguing player and is currently ranked at the top spot of the rankings for South Carolina in the 2018 class. Rawson has participated in this past South Carolina Top 80, where he was certainly one of the players that stood out.

“Phenom Hoops ranked Rawson as the Top prospect in South Carolina’s 2018 class. During the South Carolina Top 80 he didn’t do anything to quell this claim. Rawson is a slender lefty, who is very skilled, one national analyst suggested Jake Layman. During the event he showed the ability to shoot with range, attack from the wing, and deliver high quality passes. Iona offered early, however more should continue to roll in.”

Rawson has been playing well this season for 22ft Academy, averaging close to 12 points per game, eight rebounds, and one assist and he thinks it has been preparing him for the next level and AAU.

“It has been okay, I’ve been playing up in post grad to play against bigger and better guys to be ready for AAU and the next season,” he replied.

Rawson informed Phenom Hoops that he has been really focusing on his post moves down low, his passing ability, scoring with both hands, his dribble drive, and more on his ball handling, as he prepares himself for his future career in basketball.

We also spoke with his father, Mike Rawson, as he updated us with how his recruitment has been going as well. Here is what he said:

“His season has gone well, as he has been playing at Prep and Post Grad level as a sophomore to get bigger stronger and to play at a level that allows him to develop his game and be able to be seen just outside of the limelight, as he believes he wants a steady rise in his development. As far as getting offers as a sophomore, it is a bit too early. He’s very level headed about it and doesn’t really shout out about the schools who have shown interest.

“He’s been playing the three, four, or five position, depending on teams miss matches, so he can get an inside game and perimeter game; pull the big guys out and shoot over them or go by them to the basket. Both of those parts of his game, he’s been working on.

Recruiting has been interesting as we have stayed low key by taking some unofficial visits and he’s had good interest by getting letters from colleges. Our focus this year was to take things progressively by taking unofficial visits and reviewing. He has had interest from Virginia, College of Charleston, USC, Tulane, Wright State, Oregon State, Clemson, and Memphis, as well as a few more. He seems to be getting onto a lot of radars, which is good.”

Rawson will only continue to develop his game and with him expanding his game on the court, this young man could be just a few months away from exploding onto the scene. This young man certainly has Division I talent that programs will be craving at the end of his recruitment.
