I love guys that go out and produce. Strong gritty guys, who defend hard and put up stats across the board really catch my notice.

Legacy Charter’s 6’5” small forward Miguel Priest does just this, and does so consistently at a high level. On a 22-7 team, playing a national type schedule, Priest is averaging 10 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block per game.

He is putting up these numbers, all the while defending the opposing team’s best player. That is another thing about Priest, he defends multiple positions. Depending on the game plan and the opposing team’s strengths, he defends the two through the 4 man.

While his production may not be the prettiest, the Michigan native gets the production. He is very strong, carrying a strong 210 pounds on that 6’5 frame. He has great length and toughness to go along with a competitive nature and natural athleticism.

After his performance at the prestigious South Carolina Top 80 we wrote, “Priest, a left hander, is a unique talent. He has a comfort on the ball in the half court setting and great vision. While his offense is most effective 15 feet and in, he is sturdy enough to finish through contact and athletic enough to finish above the rim. Priest’s camp coach Jeff Dibattisto stated, “Miguel has excellent court vision and the ability to finish with contact.” As Miguel carries forward we would like to see him continue to pay attention to his footwork. Priest is a unique talent who carries multiple D1 offers. More schools at that level should look in, they would like what they see.”

Priest carries offers from North Carolina A&T and South Carolina St. We expect more to come as there is no questioning that he helps a team.
