If you have been around North Carolina basketball for any amount of time, you know the name Ricky Council. Ricky Council II was a standout at Northern Durham, in the 2014 class, who signed to Providence out of high school. Well Ricky II has a younger brother, Ricky Council IV who college coaches need to take immediate notice of.
Now, as he showed throughout Phenom’s Tennessee Exposure Camp, it is time for Ricky Council IV to shine. Ricky II was named All-State and scored over 2,000 career points, Ricky IV may be further along than his older brother at the same stage. With all his accolades n the court, Ricky II was also a high academic student. Ricky IV is a lengthy wing who has incredibly springs in his step. He played above the rim for most of the day, catching bodies and arousing the sideline on numerous plays.
Offensively, Ricky IV has about as complete a game as it comes. Still needing strength and to fine tune his ball skills, Ricky IV is able to score at all three levels. He is aggressive off the drive and able to pull up and knock down the 3-point shot consistently. Most importantly, the Council family takes academics very seriously so his grades are in great shape.
Looking at his frame, you can tell he still has some growth to go. Already standing 6’4”, his older brother Ricky II is 6’5” and Ricky IV has the look that could surpass his older brother. During the Tennessee Phenom Exposure Camp, Rick IV was playing viciously above the rim. He was aggressive in getting to the basket, and seemed to just float into a 2-handed slam on numerous occasions.
Word to the wise, college coaches get very familiar with this one. He has immense upside.
