Player: Micah Gunter
Class: 2028
Height: 6’3
School: Greensboro Day
Greensboro Day has certainly been a premier team in the state of North Carolina once again, and a big piece of that success has been the steady and impressive play from 2028 6’3 Micah Gunter. Our staff has been high on Gunter and his play, recently stating why he should be in talks as a national prospect.
“He has legitimate size at his position, scores the ball with confidence and ease, can be a deadly presence from the perimeter, plays with excellent pace and control in helping run the offense, and can create well for himself with high-IQ decisions. Gunter truly offers a lot of promise at a young age, and I can only think that he will continue to get better as the years go on. Which is why I would be looking harder at Gunter as a bigger national prospect in the state of North Carolina.”
Phenom Hoops was able to catch up with Gunter to talk about the season more and to see what has been going on recruiting-wise for him. Check out what he had to say.
Development and Stepping Up This Season for the Bengals:
“This year, I feel as if I’m having a really good season, winning as a team also. My development to really just to step up and be a leader, getting my teammates involved, while also scoring to help my team win and controlling the game!”
Recruitment Update:
Gunter has been really good for Greensboro Day this season in helping lead the charge, as the Bengals have proven to be one of the top teams in the state. The latest news regarding his recruitment is that Mississippi State was the latest to offer, joining other schools in the mix, but also giving him one of his biggest offers to date.
“They said they really enjoy the way I play,” Gunter told Phenom Hoops.
As far as other schools now entering the picture, Gunter said Boston College, NC State, Oklahoma State, and Clemson have all shown interest, with a few of them standing out strongly early on.
“Boston College, Nc State, and Oklahoma State have been really strong with me recently; they all really like my game and showing interest my way.”
NC State is an interesting program, being in North Carolina, as he took a visit to Raleigh when the Wolfpack took on Kansas, a visit he really seemed to enjoy.
“It was good, really enjoyed the game and the interactions with the coaching staff,” he said. “They talked to me about how the program is run, and how my game fits in well. They are really just interested in my game and that they will stay in touch with me on my journey.”
We will see if anything comes from that and how much the relationship grows from there, but it seems that schools are really starting to notice the talented guard from Greensboro.
