Millbrook vs. Greenfield Matchup
Last season, Millbrook went 27-2 and loss in the NCHSAA 4A state championship to South Central. This season head coach Christopher Davis has his team “locked and loaded” for another run at the state championship and are regarded as one of the premier teams in the state. Head coach Rob Salter led Greenfield to a 33-4 record and the NCISAA 1A state championship. Both teams are extremely well coached and one of the many intriguing open day match ups.
Millbrook has four players averaging in double figures. 6’8 junior Will Felton has been a beast averaging a “double double” with 20.6 PPG and 11.5 RPG and this makes him one of the most productive juniors in the state. 6’10 senior Sam Hood is averaging 11.7 PPG while 6’9 junior Eric Van der Heijden and 6’4 senior Jalen McCoy are averaging 11.5 PPG and 11.0 PPG respectively. Not only have they been winning games, but they are beating teams by a 31.8 PPG difference. Broughton definitely has the size advantage and seem to be clicking on all cylinders on both ends of the court.
For Greenfield, they lack the size to match up against Millbrook, but are a veteran team that is so well balanced. All five starters for Greenfield average in double figures with Creighton Lebo leading the way with 17 PPG. Trey Pittman, Dji Bailey, Collin Guilford, and Jordan Lynch are all averaging 15 PPG, 14 PPG, and 13 PPG respectively. Greenfield’s strength is their balance and everyone has bought into the team first approach. They run excellent sets and move the ball extremely well.
