When evaluating talent there are number of things that you look for in projecting a prospect. Length, upside, unique talent, toughness, future project-ability, current production, family lineage, etc…are just the tip of the iceberg. However, these are all trait grades that Team Trademark Properties (TMP) 6’7” 2017 MauriceHaridmon passes.
This season was Hardimon’s first spent full time on varsity, and he did so as a full time starter. As with any kid his age he had his ups and down throughout the season. However, by the end things seemed to be clicking for Hardimon, including a 22 Point/24 Rebound playoff performance. Hardimon went through the high school season at James Island, averaging double figure points, around 7 rebounds, and blocking 2 shots per game.
As a Sophomore in high school Hardimon stands at 6’7”. However, it is his length and lineage that really press the intrigue buttons. Hardimon carries a 6’11” wing span, long by anyone’s standards. But he is currently at a plus four (the average person’s wing span is equal to his height, plus four means that Hardimon’s wing span is four inches longer than his height). Along with his 6’11” wing span, Hardimon wears a size 16 shoe. Hardimon also comes by his size honestly, his mother is 6’3”. All of this leads to believe that Hardimon is not done growing.
Coming off of the production Hardimon saw this season at James Island Charter, he carried it right over into AAU. Playing in the 17U ACC Division of the Grassroots Tip Off Classic, Hardimon started his first game off with a 19 point output. Haridmon continued this success throughout the event, averaging 17 points per game, and grabbing 8 boards and blocking 1.5 shots per game.
Throughout the event he showed good footwork, and touch over his left shoulder. He is still a little raw, but that could be attributed to his still growing body. Hardimon has good defensive timing in the paint, and while he is not yet and explosive athlete, he is a quick jumper.
Hardimon is currently productive against older kids with a skill set that gets better each time out. He has a body that looks like it will continue to grow and a unique talent that will really turn heads. Hardimon is one to track now, because by the time it is all over for him it may be too late.
