After coming off a tremendous event at the Carmel Christian Tip-Off Classic, it is only right to get excited about this weekend’s event in the Phenom November Classic, presented by Ivester Jackson Christie. The talent on the court is going to be fun to watch, as we have some tremendous matchups coming your way. That is why we are looking at a few player showdowns for each game, ones you will not want to miss.
Friday:
4:30 PM Westminster Catawba vs. WS Christian
2022 MJ Collins vs. 2022 Camian Shell
Coming into the event, this is a great way to start the afternoon as Westminster Catawba and WS Christian collide. 2022 MJ Collins leads the charge and put on a show at the Carmel Tip-Off, as he looks to put on another show in Charlotte. But he will be going up against some talented guards, including 2022 Camian Shell and 2022 Quante Berry. Berry will be intriguing when matched up but I’m interested if he matches up against Shell, as he brings a strong defensive mentality to the court and has really elevated his play since coming to WS Christian.
6:00 PM The Burlington School vs. NC GBB
2023 Michael Nwoko vs. 2023 Tichyque Musaka
Two big men that quickly are garnering attention around the state, this will be the first viewing of 2023 Michael Nwoko and 2023 Tichyque Musaka is coming off a terrific showing at Carmel Tip-Off. Nwoko is a physical, strong presence down low and finishes at the rim with power. He will be going up against Musaka, who is a long, mobile center that stars as a rim protector as well as using his length to finish around the basket. Two rising bigs in the state of North Carolina and will certainly be must-see TV in Charlotte.
7:30 PM Liberty Heights National vs. Concord Academy
2023 Silas Demary Jr. vs. 2024 Langston Boyd
Liberty Heights National has talent everywhere you look, which is why they are one of the premier programs in the state. One of those players is 2023 Silas Demary Jr., who is quickly garnering the attention of college programs around the region including a few high majors. He will be going up against another high-major prospect in 2024 Langston Boyd. Both bring a strong frame, athleticism, and do a great job in getting downhill and scoring. This will be one of a few matchups to watch in this game.
9:00 PM Charlotte Country Day vs. Christ School
2023 Dallas Gardner vs. 2023 Emanuel Richards
Richards is a new name in North Carolina, coming from South Carolina and leading a very talented group at Christ School. He brings a strong frame, finishes through contact, and has really expanded his offensive game over the years; Richards can really fill it up and is one of the true leaders for this team. Gardner is a rising talent in the Class of 2023 as well and he now hopes to lead his new team, being one of the go-to players for Charlotte Country Day. Both can fill it up and should be a great way to end the day.
