So many people already know about the talent in the Class of 2027 and 2028, which is why we are talking early about prospects in the Class of 2029 that you will be hearing more about in the coming years. Though they are just starting their story, players are already garnering early recognition from national outlets and are showing why they have a chance to be something special.
Phenom Hoops recently had a chance to review some of the film and watch 2029 6’11 Mason Grivna with Wildcat Select, and it was clear that he seems to be looking like one of the top bigs in the Class of 2029 nationally. As a big man, there are a lot of factors that clearly stand out about his game, and he has a chance to continue to develop his overall feel, making him an even bigger weapon on the court.
But when you talk about his game today, Grivna offers a lot to the table with his blend of size, feel, and ability to operate in the paint. Though it is easy to say, a lot of times you don’t see true centers that always understand how to operate or have the feel down in the paint, but Grivna certainly displays a lot of tools in being a dominant presence inside. He does a great job in getting down in the paint, sealing off defenders and getting them on his back, and knowing how to score with touch and his finish around opponents. Grivna can be strong and physical at the rim but also shows tremendous footwork and feel in how to maneuver in the paint, while also being a huge presence on the glass and a strong defensive presence.
It was clear that Grivna has a lot of tools that will allow him to easily translate his game to the collegiate level, and he should only continue to develop as a true center. With improvement in a few small areas, Grivna will be a big-time national recruit in the Class of 2029, and offers will only continue to roll in. Right now, he holds offers already from Texas Tech, Arizona State, Florida State, Villanova, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Indiana, Virginia Tech, and Ohio right now.
