There is so much talent to be found around the state of North Carolina, of all levels… and Phenom Hoops continues to bring the best coverage around for players to be seen.  At the North Carolina Top 80 recently, many premier prospects attended the camp and put their game on full display.  But it also allowed others to rise up to the occasion and showcase that they belong as well. One player that continues to make his presence felt throughout is 2027 JR Adams from Forsyth Country Day.

Adams is one that shows maturity and command as a floor general. He consistently makes the right reads, facilitates the offense with precision, and displays excellent vision in setting up teammates. Adams utilizes his quickness to penetrate gaps and create opportunities, while also serving as a reliable perimeter shooter who can space the floor and keep defenses honest. On the defensive end, he brings energy and disruptiveness—pressuring the ball, anticipating passing lanes, and making life difficult for opposing guards.

He simply understands what is asked of him, competes on both sides of the ball, and finds ways to bring production, whether it is his ability to be a threat from outside, use his speed to create, showcase vision and unselfishness, and be a pest defensively.  I expect him to carry that momentum and pedigree into the season, being an essential piece for his team this season.

NC Top 80 Evaluation:

“First up, JR Adams is a 5-foot-7 prospect in the Class of 2027. Despite being one of the smallest campers on display, he simply knows how to make his presence felt on the court. Adams is a smart, pesky guard with a high motor, scrappy nature, and unselfish approach to the game. He’s a capable shooting threat with the quickness and handle to make plays off the bounce. Next in his development process is working on getting stronger, as it would make him a more physically imposing player on both ends of the floor. Coach Jones on Adams: “JR is a crafty point guard who can finish well and read the court effectively as a playmaker. Does a good job of knocking down threes and setting up his teammates for wide-open shots. I would like to see him be more aggressive defensively.” Adams enjoyed a quality showing at camp and should remain a key piece for Forsyth Country Day over the next two seasons.”
