Lady Phenom had some intriguing talent on the court this past weekend at the Phenom MDC, and one player that garnered our attention on several occasions was 2027 5’7 guard Amayah Barnes. She was suiting up with Carolina All-Stars this past weekend but also plays for Team Curry 2026 and from what we saw, she is a guard that deserves attention.
When you talk about her game and her impact, her speed and quickness immediately jumps out in your eyes. She has strong instincts, plays with tremendous poise, strong handles, and show the ability to be a creator for herself or for others. Time after time, she was able to blow by defenders with ease and attack the paint, finishing with touch and through contact. But she shows her comfort level in getting to her spots as well as finding other teammates open. She brings a competitive nature to the court, both offensively and defensively which is something D1 programs will certainly love. From what we saw, she has a lot to offer on the court and is one that I would be tracking earlier rather than later.

“In terms of IQ, poise, and understanding of how to control a game, Barnes was easily among the best. She’s an all-around guard who handles the ball extremely well while picking her spots as a scorer and generating opportunities for others. Barnes touches the paint whenever she desires and finishes very well around the basket, but also hits jumpers and locates open teammates with consistency. She’s a tough defender with excellent instincts, both at the point of attack and when defending away from the ball. Add in the fact that she played up a level, and it was easy to be impressed with Barnes.”
