The emerging talent here in North Carolina has to get fans excited, as there are plenty of prospects that are trending in the right direction and could be in for breakout-type seasons. One of those players that I will have my eye on and have high hopes for is Cary Academy’s 2028 6’7 Julian Tweedy.

We had a chance to get an updated viewing of his game at the NC Sophomore 40 camp and at the Phenom HS Jamboree, and when you watch him closely, you can see there is a lot to like and a ton of potential.

One of our scouts, Colby Lewis, had this to say at the camp: “6’7 2028 Julian Tweedy (Cary Academy) has an impressive combination of size & skill. High IQ forward who can score inside & out. Spaces the floor effectively. Able to impact the game without having to be the primary focal point.”

And after watching him again at the HS Jamboree this past weekend, my personal opinion is that this is a young prospect that has a lot of factors in his game along with potential that should have mid-major and high-major programs taking notice. Watching him closely, Tweedy has an impressive early feel to the game, especially with how comfortable he moves, his ability to operate inside and be active, along with stretching the floor and running from rim to rim. Tweedy is comfortable in scoring inside with touch and using his length to be active on the glass, but he has continued to develop nicely his perimeter game. He gets to his spots, shows range, and spaces the floor well.  Furthermore, what has to impress you about his game are two things: how he can impact the game without the ball on either side and the potential he shows if he continues to put in the work. There is a lot to like about this rising prospect, and there always seems to be a player coming out of central North Carolina that catches the eyes of big-time programs.  Tweedy could be the next one…
