Low Country Showcase Standouts Part 1
6’5 2020 Jackson Threadgill (Davidson Day)
Jackson Threadgill already sports offers from many mid major programs in the region. (Charlotte, and JMU just to name a few). In the game vs. Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach, Threadgill enjoyed a solid all around game. We’re talking about a high IQ, fundamentally sound shooting guard that has tremendous length and the ability to shoot the cover off the ball. He has improved immensely in his ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He has good handles and excellent court vision and is always mentally engaged in the game. Threadgill finished with a team high 21 points scoring from all three levels.
6’8 2020 CJ Huntley (Davidson Day)
What you currently see is not quite the finished product. That being said, Huntley was quickly offered by Tubby Smith of High Point University after his performance vs. Christian Academy. We’re talking about a lengthy, fluid and smooth forward that has an advanced skill set. He has the ability to knock down the midrange jump shot or finish at the rim with either hand. Huntley has “soft” passer friendly hands and nifty footwork in the post. More importantly, Huntley displayed a nice shooting touch and finished with 18 points in the win. In our opinion, Huntley is just now starting to scratch the surface on his long-range upside and potential. He is a definite “buy now” prospect.
6’4 2021 Bryce Alfino (Davidson Day)
We really liked the activeness, energy and effort displayed by the 6’4 sophomore guard. Alfino just seemed to have a knack of being around the ball on both ends of the court. He is a fundamentally sound, high IQ, and athletic guard, not to mention Alfino displayed a tremendous amount of poise and maturity throughout the game. Alfino finished with 17 points including three 3-pointers. Look for a huge jump in his rankings and recruitment come this summer.
6’6 Davis Guyton (Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach)
Davis Guyton did what he usually does best and that is knocking down shots from the 3-point line. Guyton finished with 21 points including five 3-pointers. Guyton is best in a catch and shoot situation, has a quick release and the ability to score points quickly. More importantly, Guyton scores within the framework of the game and rarely takes ill-advised shots.
6’2 2019 Marlon Hill (West Ashley)
What’s not to like about a strong, athletic and lengthy point guard that can score from all three levels, not to mention he plays with moxie, grit and toughness. Sporting an impressive 6’7 wingspan and ridiculous bounce, Hill definitely plays much taller than his listed height. He is relentless attacking and playing above the rim. In the tough loss vs. Greenville, Hill finished with 17 points including four 3-pointers.
