6’2 ’17 Pearce Landry is one of the more efficient 3-point shooters in the state for his class. He’s one of those players that plays within the framework of the game and more importantly does all the little things that are important in securing wins for his team. Pearce is a fundamentally sound player with a terrific basketball IQ. He’s a low risk high return player especially with his ability to stretch defenses out with his deadly perimeter shooting ability.
Pearce has the ability to always keep his team “in the game” and will be an important member for Greensboro Day School this coming season. Coach Freddy Johnson stated, “Pearce has such a high basketball IQ. He makes shots and is a great shooter. He can knock down 3’s! Pearce has made tremendous progress this past summer and his work ethic has been superb. He has gotten so much stronger and has become a better defensive player.”
While Greensboro Day will be the reigning NCISAA 3A state champions, they will be somewhat undersized compared to their conference and state rivals, but one thing is for certain, they will be well coached, play tremendous team defense and will always be a tough matchup. We expect Pearce Landry to be an important member of the team this coming season. His ability to knock down shots will be key to their overall team success. While Pearce hasn’t received the same accolades as Will Dillard, Johnny Newman, and others, don’t be surprised that Pearce Landry has a big night from the 3-point line and ends up the leading scorer on occasions.
Off the court, Pearce is an outstanding student and a high character young man.
