It’s not uncommon to see a talented pairing go through their entire high school journey together. Starting as freshmen, learning how to play, and then steadily elevating into leadership positions. This sentiment rings especially true for the notable duo of DJ Brown and Treyce Peace of Lee County High School. Following a highly productive freshman campaign from both players, the intrigue was clear. Although they went their separate ways for the travel ball season (Brown to CP3, Peace to Carolina Rise Carnegie), both guys have continued to turn heads throughout the summer months. Brown is a smart, heady floor general who displays excellent balance from the point guard position. He excels at breaking down opponents, touching the paint, and making quality decisions with the ball in his hands. Brown utilizes his quickness and crafty handle to consistently get where he wants off the bounce. He’s a capable scorer who finishes well for his size and knocks down jumpers effectively from midrange and beyond the arc. Brown is a pesky on-ball defender who does a nice job of making life difficult for opposing guards. He’s an unselfish leader by example who shows a willingness to adapt his approach as needed.
Meanwhile, Peace is a skilled wing with great feel, length, and activity on both ends of the floor. He’s a versatile piece who can score the ball from all levels, both as a creator and off-ball threat, at a consistent rate. Peace does a terrific job of taking what the defense gives him and asserting himself within the flow of the action. He knocks down jumpers, attacks closeouts, and converts shots off the dribble at a quality rate. Peace is a solid creator and capable playmaker who is willing to set up others or make the extra pass. He’s also an impactful defender who will only continue to improve as he gets stronger. Expect both guys to turn heads over the foreseeable future.
