The Phenom MDC was an absolute thriller of an event that brought some of the top talents around the region on the girls’ side. This is why we are here to highlight some of the talent on display in Rock Hill (SC). 2027 Makayla Moore, who played for Lady Upward Stars this past weekend, was a guard who earned our attention with her play.
When you talk about her game, descriptive words like quick, gritty, and tough all come to mind instantly when watching him. She is a point guard who leads the way by example, not only displaying strong handles, quickness and speed out in transition, and toughness in getting downhill and creating or taking contact, but also being a true leader on the court overall. Moore was comfortable mixing it up, getting paint touches, and creating and finding her teammates. Defensively, she can be an absolute pest, bringing that same pesky attitude that allows her to create havoc against her opponents and earn multiple steals to turn into transition.
Moore had a strong sophomore season at Dorman, averaging nearly 12ppg, 5.2apg, 4.0spg, and 3.2rpg, and she has proven she will be carrying that same impact all summer long for the Lady Upward Stars 3SSB.
What Was Said:
“Makayla Moore (Upward Stars) high motor guard that’s fearless. Can knife through the defense with her shifty handles. Has an effective midrange & three-point jumper. Knows when to attack the gaps. Great body control. #PhenomMDC”
“2027 Makayla Moore (Upward Stars) is a touch, scrappy guard that COMPETES. Quick guard out in transition, attacks the defense well, is able to get paint touches consistently, and got to the free throw line as well. #PhenomMDC”
