Justice Kithcart has long been on Phenom Hoops radar as he has been coming to NC Phenom 150 camps since he was in middle school. It has been great to watch his growth through the years as a player, and in stature, but the one constant throughout has been his competitive nature.
Growing up in Durham, North Carolina Kitchart grew up in the heart of ACC country. Dreaming of playing in that league, Kithcart finally got his dream answered as he committed to be a Pittsburgh Panther during his official visit this weekend, “Playing in the ACC has always been a huge dream of mine. I am glad that dream finally came true.”
Most recently Kithcart participated this year’s prestigious Virginia Top 80, where he went against the 80 best players the state of Virginia has to offer. Following the event we wrote, “True to form, Kithcart was one of the more competitive players in this camp. He was faced with some very intriguing match-ups on the day, and went right at every one of them. During camp, Kithcart showed the ability to consistently knock down the 3 point shot, both off the catch and both ways off the dribble. He also showed good ball handling skills and the ability to get into the lane and finish through contact. Kithcart is a very good on ball defender, using his quickness and understanding of footwork to make life hard on his man.”
Kitchart was blown away on his visit with the facilities and tradition Pittsburgh offers, “They offer a great basketball history along with top notch facilities and coaching staff. When I looked at everything it was a no-brainer.”
While Kithcart is a tough, hard-nosed lead guard, it is his competitiveness that stands out above all. He plays each minute of each game with a chip on his shoulder that leads to win after win. Of course the competitor in Kithcart wants to compete early in his career, “It stood out that they told me I can come in and compete for a starting spot as a freshman. They see me as one of the two point guards Coach likes to play.”
Make sure you check out Kithcart and his Virginia Episcopal team in the Phenom National Showcase November 13 and 14. They will face Word of God (Raleigh, NC) and Ravenscroft (Raleigh, NC) in in the event.
