It was a great event this year in Greensboro, as Phenom Hoops were able to get a look at some of the upcoming talent around the area as they competed in the Junior Phenom Spring Camp.' At the end of the day, each coach provided their evaluation of each player, which can be found below.

Brandon Thomas ' No. 96

Comments: 'He was the hardest working kid I had.' Played hard on both ends of the court.' As long as he stays in the gym, he will be fun to watch.'

 

DeAngelo Patterson ' No. 119

Comments: 'Great body and works hard.' Not sure how much he works on his game but has a good upside.' Can make his high school team if he puts in the work during the summer.'

 

DeVante Patterson ' No. 120

Areas of Success: Effort, Penetration ability, Ability to finish, Ball handling skills, Passing skills, Defense on and off the ball, Quickness, Vision and Court Sense, Rebounding his position, Moving without the ball

Comments: 'Seems new to the game and plays hard at times.' Has a great motor, it just doesn't run the whole time.' A giant body for his age, he just needs to stay in the gym.'

 

Justin Wright ' No. 97

Areas of Success: Attitude, Acceptance of Criticism, Basketball IQ, Effort, Team Play, Catch and Shoot, Penetration ability, Ability to finish, Ball handling skills, Transition Defense, Quickness, Vision and Court Sense, Rebounding, Moving without the ball

Areas of Improvement: Range of shot, Release time, Shooting mechanics, Back to the basket moves, Use of off hand, Passing skills, Defense on and off the ball

Comments: 'My best player all day!' He is a bulldog on defense and well-rounded on offense.' He did a lot of everything to help our team win.' Looked for big things out of him in the next few years.'

 

Austin Triplette ' No. 85

Areas of Success: Attitude, Basketball IQ, Effort, Team Play, Shooting off the dribble, Release time, Shooting mechanics, Transition defense, Quickness, Footwork, Rebounding, Moving without the ball

Areas of Improvement: Range of shot (3pt), Catch and shoot, Back to the basket moves, Use of off hand

Comments: 'Austin played hard and did anything I asked him to do.' Each game, he showed more of his skill set, shot the ball really well and made the extra pass.' Really played team ball and was impressive for much of the day.'

 

Bryson Nesbit ' No. 84

Areas of Success: Range of Shot (3pt), Passing Skills, Vision and Court Sense, Attitude, Team Play, Shooting off the dribble, Release time, Shooting mechanics, Penetration ability, Ability to finish, Ball handling, Defense on and off the ball, Footwork

Areas of Improvement: Continue to develop his overall game in areas but was solid throughout.

Comments: 'Bryson was a great kid and he was a pleasure to coach.' He played hard all day long and was a great teammate all throughout the day.' He will be a fun prospect to see how he improves his overall game in the next few years.'

 

Darius Porter – No. 58

Areas of Success: Attitude, Acceptance of Criticism, Effort, Team Play, Range of Shot (2pt and 3pt), Shooting mechanics, Ball handling skills, Passing skills, Defense on and off the ball, Vision and Court Sense, Rebounding his position

Areas of Improvement: Shooting off the Dribble, Release Time, Back to the basket moves, Penetration ability, Ability to finish, Quickness, Footwork

Comments: “Darius really played hard all day long and was really tough on the defensive end of the court.' He showed that he can knock down the open three and did a good job of taking care of the ball.' Solid prospect to watch down the road.”

 

Brandon Brown ' No 57

Areas of Improvement: Back to the basket moves, Transition defense, quickness, Footwork, Vision and Court Sense.

Comments: 'Brandon was a really good player and really showed something on the court for being only a 7th grader.' He has tight handles, he is a really good passer, and shot the ball well.' He came from Tennessee and he really made a name for himself early on today.'

 

Chris Britt ' No. 26

Areas of Success: Team play, Attitude, Basketball IQ, Range of shot (3pt), Back to the basket moves, Use of off hand, Penetration ability, Ability to finish, Ball handling, Quickness, Moving without the ball

Areas of Improvement: Range of shot (2pt), Catch and shoot, Shooting off the dribble, Release time, Shooting mechanics, Passing skills, Defense on and off the ball, Transition defense, Footwork, Vision and court sense

Comments: 'He was a great kid at the Jr. Phenom camp to coach who really played hard all day long.' He did a good job running the team and made the extra pass when needed.' He also shot the ball really well throughout.'

 

Callin Randolph ' No. 108

Comments: 'Callin is a player!' Hit three's all day long, made the extra pass and found his teammates when needed also.' He played really well on defense as well.' If he keeps on working in the gym, I can see him really being one of the better players in the area.'
