Player: Jaleel Smith
Class: 2028
Height: 6’1

We know it is still so early for the Class of 2028 and there will be plenty of names that could start entering this discussion but as of right now, it is hard not to say that 2028 6’1 Jaleel Smith wouldn’t find his name as one of the top guards in the country.
Watching how he operates and his overall feel/understanding of the game at the George Lynch Invitational was not only impressive but solidified my early thoughts on his talents. Phenom Hoops watched Smith several times last year and saw the potential in his game, but you can see that he has only built onto that this season as a freshman at Hunter Huss. He looks bigger and stronger, but also his confidence and play has elevated to another level. Smith is embracing early on being the go-to option and leader for his team, showing to be a strong offensive playmaker. He displayed an extremely polished feel in being a creator for himself, attacking the defense well, getting to his spots with his jumper, making high IQ reads in scoring around defenders, and displaying confidence in having the ball in his hands and making a play. Smith brings a physical game to the court that allows him to embrace defenders and make plays, as well as be able to defend as well as a young freshman.
His game is quite impressive for a prospect that is just a freshman and if he continues to develop his game, he will be finding his name with a number next to it in several national rankings.

“2028 6’1 Jaleel Smith (Hunter Huss) is showing why he should be a Top 100 prospect in his class. Incredibly impressive skillset, scores in a variety of ways, comfortable with his jumper and off the dribble, and physical guard. Love his game.”
“Difficult to describe this showing from 6’1 ‘28 Jaleel Smith (Huss) as anything other than purely dominant. Scoring from all over and generating shots for others at a nonstop rate. Incredibly skilled. Sees the game ahead of others. One the top players in his class.”
“Absolutely love watching 6’1 2028 Jaleel Smith. One of the best guards in his class. Makes others around him better. Creates for himself & others. Good instincts defensively. Should have a big year at Hunter Huss.”
