Player: Markus Kerr
Class: 2027
Height: 6’7
School: Brewster Academy
The talent was out and about this past weekend at the Phenom March Madness, as top players took the court and put on a show for fans all around. A familiar face even came back home to North Carolina, as 2027 6’7 Markus Kerr made a return.
Kerr, who was a star at Chambers just a while back, took his talents up north to Brewster and announced also that he would be heading to the Class of 2027. When he was here in North Carolina, though, our scouts at Phenom Hoops were quite high on what Kerr provided on the court and could see the potential in what he had to offer, as it seemed that his story was just staring to take off. That could be seen back in 2024, when Patrick O’Brien had this to say after watching him:
“Kerr has been regarded as a Top 10 prospect in his class, and his talent could easily be seen over the years. He is one of the youngest prospects in the class, and one could always see the potential in his game. However, we have been watching this young man closely over the last few months, and it seems that Kerr is starting to hit another level in his game. Kerr is a smooth-operating prospect who could easily fit into any college system with how he plays, his positional size, his versatility, and his feel. However, Kerr has taken that next step in being assertive with his game, showing that he can help take over a game, and can score with the best of them on the court. He has been looking more for his shot, especially with his ability to make plays on and off the ball, knock down shots from the perimeter, score from mid-range, attack off the bounce and get inside, and also use his athleticism to finish at the rim.”

Fast-forward to today, in 2026, a lot has certainly changed for Kerr, and everything seems to be taking shape as a premier talent in the country. Getting a chance to watch him over the weekend, it was clear that Kerr has added strength (30 pounds of muscle), gotten taller, and has taken his game to the next level.
When you talk about the impact and use of Kerr on the court, he brings such value with his ability to produce and operate in so many areas; he can be used all over the court. With his length and size, he can guard multiple positions on the court and has a tremendous offensive skillset in his ability to score from the perimeter, attack off the bounce, finish at the rim, make an impact on the glass, and be comfortable from multiple positions on the floor. He offers a lot and has such a smooth feel to the game that it has been clear that he brings tremendous versatility for a team. And again, his game has only continued to develop.
After watching him again this weekend, I walked away with a clear answer that Kerr is ready to help a program. And that could be said if he decides to stay in the Class of 2027, but he could easily go back to the Class of 2026 and would be considered a high-major prospect that could make an impact on a program.
Kerr is a premier prospect that brings value, and it seems that he is ready for a college program in my opinion. But, no matter what he may decide to do, he has clearly proven himself to be a target for many programs around the country.
