2027 6’5 RJ Moore has been a hot topic the last few months, starting with a memorable state championship run to showcasing his talent on the big stage with Garner Road this summer. Moore has been rising up the ranks and should only continue to see an uptick, as he now makes the move to Ambassador Christian. Moore has proven to be an elite talent here in North Carolina, especially with his scoring capabilities. We have seen it time after time from him over the last year, especially when he had a coming-out party at the NC Top 80 in 2024. We had this to say:
“Fast-forward through the NC Top 80, it was Moore who came out red hot and made a statement with his play. Moore, whose father is Ricky Moore, who played at UConn, really flourished in his ability to score from a variety of levels. He showed his ability to knock down shots with a ton of confidence and range, pulling up off the dribble and rising over defenders with ease. But with his 6’5 frame, length, and athleticism, he does a great job of creating for himself and finishing. He continues to flourish with his versatility, and we are eager to see how much more he develops and adds to his frame. But Moore certainly proved he belongs with some of the top names in North Carolina for the Class of 2027, as more schools enter the mix.”
He recently announced that he would be taking a few upcoming visits, as Phenom Hoops caught up with the rising star about some of the latest in his recruitment.
Offers: Rutgers, Utah, Wake Forest, High Point, North Carolina A&T
Phenom: How did your game develop this summer, and what were you hoping to show more with it?
Moore: I think I got a lot stronger and was able to get to the basket more, more mid-range game, and just a lot more paint touches. I think my scoring ability evolved more and got better as well. I’m hoping to utilize my footwork and pump fakes more to enhance my scoring ability, which I already possess. I feel like if I get those down, I’ll be unstoppable.
Phenom: What are you looking forward to playing at Ambassador this season?
Moore: Just looking forward to getting better, getting close with the staff and players, and most importantly, winning games as well as gaining offers.
Phenom: Speaking of recruitment, who has been coming your way as far as interest as of late?
Moore: Tennessee, Georgetown, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and Georgia have been the hardest recruiting me.
Note: Moore has visits to Georgia on August 1st and Georgia Tech on August 2nd
Phenom: Do you have any other visits scheduled or upcoming?
Moore: Yes, I just haven’t been able to schedule them yet.
Phenom: What have those schools been telling they like about your game?
Moore: My scoring ability, my ability to shoot, and my underrated defense.
Phenom: What other schools are you hoping to set up to visit?
Moore: UConn, Duke, Miami, Florida, and Syracuse.
Phenom: Have you heard from them?
Moore: I’ve heard from UConn and Miami.
