Phenom Hoops had a tremendous opportunity to go out to Kansas City to check in and help out with the US Open Basketball. It was terrific to check out new talent from all over the country once again, learning plenty of new names and new programs. One player that garnered our attention quickly and throughout the tournament was 2030 6’5 Hudson Heim with KC Run GMC.
We had high praise after Day 1, as we had this to say:
“Heim may have been the best prospect and the one with the most potential on Day 1 that I saw. Standing at 6’5, he offers a lot with his game and versatility. Heim does a great job in running the floor, operating from the perimeter, knocking down shots from outside, but also being an impact player in running the court to finish. Loved his overall presence and think he has a lot of potential left in his game, as Heim could be trending as a national name.”
After a full weekend of watching him in action, Heim was one of the top young prospects at the event and we certainly have him down as one that has a chance to see his name nationally ranked in the coming years. Though that may be a few years down the road, the potential with his overall game and at his size are quite impressive. Heim is such a versatile piece that can be used in several areas. Whether he is running the floor at his size and finishing in transition, operating down in the paint and finishing with touch, handling and looking to create, or his ability to operate and knock down shots from three, Heim gives you a little bit of everything. And again, this is a young man going into the eighth grade and still has room for tremendous growth with his game.
But from what we saw in Kansas City, Heim is one that I would for sure jot down, start monitoring now his development, and pay close attention to in the coming years. The pieces are all there for him to be a special player nationally, and time will only tell how much more he develops and grows.
