In two weekends, Phenom Hoops will officially begin our annual Hoopstate Fall League. Previously, games were hosted at Cox Mill and JD Lewis Center, but Rise Indoor Sports will also be added to the mix this year. Between three separate venues, kids from several different areas will have the opportunity to compete against other notable programs as they prepare for the upcoming high school season. Leading up to the preseason contests, we will preview some of the teams registered to attend—looking at Asheville Christian.
Under Coach Andy Ray, the Lions have been a model of consistency. Regardless of regular season record, they seem to contend each year. Unlike most of the top teams in North Carolina, Asheville Christian will return the majority of their core pieces. Although their star junior receives most of the spotlight for this group, they certainly have a variety of prospects for college coaches to pursue. They have a useful collection of guys who each know their respective roles. Don’t be surprised if this group emerges as a dark horse during the upcoming season.
