The third game of our Hoopstate Championship bracket took place between Combine Academy and Winston-Salem Christian. It didn’t take long for the Goats to assert themselves, establish a lead, and end the opening quarter with a 21-10 advantage. However, the Lions put together consecutive scoring possessions to start the second period. The battle maintained its intensity, but Combine Academy immediately rattled off a 15-2 run of their own. Ultimately, neither team was able to gain a ton of separation in the second period, leading to a 36-24 halftime advantage for the Goats. After another run to start the third quarter, Combine began to pull away and finished the period with a 58-40 lead. Although the Lions battled, the final eight minutes only further solidified the victory for the Goats—leading to a 81-56 outcome.
