There is something to be said about a player that has something to prove, with a chip on his shoulder, and is determined to showcase his full talent and how he can produce. 2021 BJ Freeman from Moravian Prep did that and more at the Phenom Holiday Classic.
Freeman has been looked at as one of the top players in the state of North Carolina but it does feel at times he may get overlooked at times compared to other names. In Rock Hill and on several other occasions, he made it known he is a dude to be reckoned with.
Before coming to Moravian Prep, he was an absolute stud at Clayton where he posted some ridiculous numbers. In his junior season, he averaged 20.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. But now, he made the move to Moravian Prep and the level of competition has stepped up but this young man still is producing at a high level, just like he has always done.
In maybe one of his best overall performances at a Phenom Hoops event, Freeman showed it all in a win against Combine Academy, playing with extreme confidence, knocking down shots from the perimeter with an improving outside game, and continuing to use his body extremely well against opponents. Freeman also impressed with his ability to create for himself off the dribble, showing that he can get by guards and body up smaller defenders or he can make bigger opponents pay from outside.
Freeman’s ability to operate on multiple levels, score effectively inside and out, and be a leader on the floor has really been impressive this summer and fall, and he is now making a statement to everyone about his game this winter with Moravian Prep.
Right now, as far as his recruitment, he did add offers from Towson and Old Dominion over the summer but we wouldn’t be surprised to see an uptick even more with schools from what he has shown.
