Looking around the state of high school basketball, Lady Phenom Is looking to recognize a team to really watch out for this team in the Asheville Cougars as they sit undefeated on the season. Last year, the Cougars finished 13-8 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
They have already matched that win total this season and we are just starting the new year, as the Cougars have been dominant to start the season. Asheville is averaging over 70 points per game on the season but has also got it done defensively, giving up only 38 points per game to opponents.
Asheville is a team that has a nice blend of veteran leadership and production, as 2023 Evangelia Paulk has led the charge with her versatility, averaging 19.3ppg, 7.2rpg, 3.2apg, 5.4spg, and 2.3 bpg so far this season. And right behind her is 2024 Kirsten Watt (15.2ppg, 6.4rpg, 3.5spg), 2023 Aleysha Hill (12.2ppg), and 2025 Hayziah Dillingham (8.4ppg, 5.5rpg, 3.7apg). They also have others that have stepped up and provided nice depth for this team.
The Cougars have been extremely strong and it is time to start recognizing that they could be a force this season and into the playoffs; time to jump on board!
