6’0 Lincoln Raper (Concord Academy)

Although he should’ve been higher initially, Raper takes a massive leap forward after simply being one of the best, most consistent floor generals in the state. He controls the action in an extremely poised, intelligent manner with phenomenal balance between scoring and playmaking. Raper breaks down opponents and touches the paint with regularity, where he’s able to finish or effortlessly set up others for open looks. However, the threat of his knockdown three-point shooting forces opponents to stay attached at all times. Raper’s calm, seemingly emotionless demeanor pairs perfectly with the well-oiled approach of his teams. He’s also a pesky defender and useful rebounder who simply outperforms his assignment on both ends of the floor. Raper will be an asset at the next level.

6’8 Ny’Zion Ballard (New Hanover)

Given the value of rebounding and rim-protection, it’s pretty easy to see what makes Ballard such an obvious target for college coaches. He’s a long, fluid athlete with incredible feel and high-level instincts as an interior defender. In addition to Ballard’s excellent timing as a shot-blocking cog, he’s more than capable of switching and containing opponents off the bounce. He anchors the paint extremely well while controlling the glass, running the floor in transition, and applying offensive pressure as needed. Ballard truly shines as an impactful, low-maintenance piece who will only continue to improve as he adds strength. Expect him to be a vital piece for New Hanover this season.

6’5 Cameron Thompson (Chambers)

After watching several guys transfer from Chambers, Thompson finds himself as the clear, undisputed leader of this group. He’s a natural glue-guy who can do everything on the court. Thompson is a versatile wing/forward with a quality skillset, switchable defensive presence, and the ability to alter his approach based on team needs. He can reliably initiate the offense, create off the bounce, and score in a variety of ways. Thompson’s ability to be featured from several areas allows him to regularly exploit openings and mismatches. He’s a willing passer and active rebounder who finds production in every type of setting.
