Evan Johnson was tracking as a top player in the 2019 class, for the state of North Carolina. Through multiple camps and AAU events, Johnson was garnering great feedback and ranking.

Now, Johnson has transferred to Word of God and moved to the class 2020. Over the last year, Johnson has grown up adding 3 inch’s and now standing 6’0 and playing with a chip on his shoulder.

When Johnson attended last year’s North Carolina Fall Junior Phenom we wrote, “Evan looks to follow in his brother’s footsteps and become a D1 prospect (Eric is a current freshman at Boston U). He has all the ingredients including a refined skill set that is equally matched by excellent athleticism. Coach Langley stated, “Evan has tremendous speed. He changes directions well. He is an elite PG with a solid skill set. Eric also demonstrated a great attitude and is a true floor leader.” The next step in his development is to exert more energy on the defensive end of the court.”

Johnson’s AAU Coach Michael Dobbin says, “He’s a Quick Feet pass first PG. He’s a big mans dream, a shooters best friend & a slashers gift horse. But he also has the abilityy to score at all three levels when ever his team needs him to.”

Evan is well known in 2019 class but with him reclassifing it would arguably make him the top point guard in the class of 2020. At John Lucas’ International Middle School event, Clark Francis ranked Johnson as the #2 player overall and as the TOP player in the 2020 class.

It will be fun to track Johnson’s progress.
