Greenville is primed to make another strong run at a State Championship, building on the momentum of last season’s impressive campaign. Head Coach Mike Anderson, along with assistants Ron Bruton, Steve Carter, Kelly Walker and Andre Lytes did a masterful job guiding the team with discipline, energy, and a clear vision, and their efforts didn’t go unnoticed. This year, the program gets an added boost with the return of South Carolina coaching legend Yerrick Stoneman, whose championship pedigree, most recently as part of Ridge View’s historic title runs and a stint at the prestigious Oak Hill Academy, brings invaluable experience and leadership to the staff. The team only loses one key piece in Roman Cooley, but returns nearly all of its core contributors, giving Greenville a rare mix of chemistry, depth, and experience. With a seasoned coaching staff and a roster stacked with talent and familiarity, expectations are understandably high. Here’s a closer look at the returning core and the new additions set to elevate Greenville even further this season.

Caden Coleman (2026)  stands out as one of the most athletic guards in the state, combining explosive burst with a college-ready frame that makes him a constant threat on both ends of the floor. He excels at getting downhill, using his strength and body control to finish through contact and at times, elevate over defenders for highlight-reel plays at the rim. Physically, he has all the tools college coaches look for: size, quickness, and a strong build that allows him to absorb contact and make plays in traffic. Defensively, Coleman has the potential to be a high-level stopper with his length and lateral mobility, and he’s also a standout rebounder from the guard spot, consistently crashing the glass and helping initiate transition offense. Perhaps most encouraging is the steady progress he’s shown with his shooting, particularly from three, where he’s becoming more consistent and confident. As he continues to sharpen that part of his game, expect his recruitment to gain even more traction. He’s a prospect whose stock is clearly on the rise.

Gavin Griffin (2026) is a high-upside prospect whose length, motor, and versatility make him a valuable piece on both ends of the floor. His long frame and constant activity allow him to impact the game in a variety of ways whether it’s contesting shots, altering passing lanes, or finishing around the basket. He plays with great energy and toughness, often outworking opponents in the paint where he scores efficiently through quick second jumps and smart positioning. While his perimeter game is still developing, he’s shown flashes of being able to stretch the floor and put the ball on the deck, which adds a promising layer to his offensive potential. Defensively, Griffin’s versatility shines as he’s capable of switching onto multiple positions thanks to his length and lateral quickness. As he continues to add strength to his slender frame, his overall game should take another leap. With his physical tools, high motor, and room to grow, Griffin has the makeup of a late bloomer who could catch the attention of scholarship-level programs as his skill set and body continue to mature.

Frank Whitley (2026) is a consistent double-double threat who brings a unique blend of length, athleticism, and relentless effort every time he steps on the floor. His high motor and physical tools make him a force on the glass, constantly battling for rebounds on both ends and giving his team extra possessions. Offensively, he can score in a variety of ways, finishing strong around the rim, running the floor in transition, and steadily improving his ability to stretch the floor with a developing three-point shot. Defensively, Frank’s versatility allows him to guard multiple positions, and his energy and toughness make him a reliable two-way presence. He thrives in the glue-guy role, doing all the little things that don’t always show up in the box score but are vital to winning. His ability to adapt, contribute in multiple areas, and elevate the play of those around him makes him a true Swiss Army knife and a key piece of this team’s identity. Frank is the type of player every coach wants. He’s a competitor who would be a quality addition at the next level with the potential to make an immediate impact.

Tucker Scholl (2027) is one of the most dangerous shooters in the state, capable of lighting it up from beyond the arc with a smooth stroke and quick, clean release that makes him a constant threat from deep. He plays with a high basketball IQ and has shown steady improvement in his ability to operate as a lead guard, making smart reads and playing with poise under pressure. While his shooting ability often takes center stage, he’s also a solid facilitator especially when defenses key in on him, finding open teammates and creating opportunities out of double teams. Tucker has the kind of shooting ability that allows him to get hot in a hurry and fill up the scoring column, often changing the momentum of a game with a single run. He played a vital role in Greenville’s state championship run last season and is poised for an even bigger impact this year as his role expands. With his elite shooting ability and growing overall game, Tucker is a player that college coaches should have firmly on their radar. His ability to stretch the floor, make smart decisions, and deliver in big moments makes him one of the more complete and underrated perimeter threats in the state.

Keshun Mccoy (2026)  is an exciting new addition to this Greenville squad. He plays with a high motor, energy and relentless intensity, constantly looking to push the pace and attack defenses. McCoy excels at getting into the paint, using his quickness and handle to exploit gaps and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. He’s particularly effective out of ball screens, where he reads the floor well and can both facilitate and score depending on how the defense reacts. In addition to his playmaking ability, McCoy is a reliable shooter who can space the floor when needed and knock down shots consistently. Defensively, he brings toughness and focus, capable of guarding multiple backcourt positions and setting the tone with his effort on that end. His arrival adds another layer to Greenville’s backcourt, providing valuable depth and another legitimate threat at the guard position. With his blend of skill, toughness, and competitive edge, McCoy’s addition makes an already talented team even more dangerous.
