In the two games we watched, 6’6 ’18 AJ Gallagher was simply outstanding. He had consecutive games of 24 and 30 and was a tremendous force on the interior. We were impressed with his grit, toughness, and overall work ethic. He’s definitely not afraid of contact and competing. AJ does a terrific job of understanding his position and always seems to play within himself.
We really believe he is flying under the recruiting radar and our NC Phenom 150 camp evaluation is custom made for his play today. We stated, “AJ is a sleeper! He plays well around the rim and is fundamentally sound as a power forward. He has a solid mid-range jump shot and has solid post play for his size. He does the little things well and plays hard. He just needs to get stronger and remember to play aggressive on both sides of the ball. AJ proved what he could do fundamentally down low and made a name for himself at the NC Phenom 150 event. He is definitely one to watch down the road.”
With AJ’s basketball IQ, fundamentals and shooting ability for his size, he is definitely trending to become a legit D1 prospect. AJ will not “wow” you with elite level athleticism, but he knows how to be productive and get the job done. We look for big things for AJ this summer and the balance of his high school career.
