5’10 ’18 Malcolm Wade started at the PG for Cuthbertson HS in Waxhaw, NC his freshman year. Cuthbertson won the conference championship and advanced to the elite 8 of the 3A NCHSAA basketball state championship.
Off the court, Malcolm sports a 3.0 GPA and does volunteer work. He is well rounded and volunteers his time working basketball camps, homeless shelters, and assisted living groups for the elderly. With that in mind, Malcolm like many young players has a dream of playing collegiate basketball.
Malcolm has been a regular of the NC Phenom 150 camps over the past two years. At the 2013 Fall evaluation camp, we stated, “Malcolm displayed a complete package of basketball skills throughout the day. He not only showed a lot of skill but showed the ability to accept and implement instruction, immediately into the game.” Malcolm has excellent quickness and has the ability to get into the lane consistently. He is more of a pass first PG and looks to get others on his team involved on offense.
It’s great to see a young prospect that is so grounded on and off the court. His priorities are in order and is well diversified as a person. He has a strong work ethic on the basketball court but it also carries over to the classroom. More importantly, we like the fact that Malcolm gives back to his community and volunteers his time. It’s not often young players take the time to work homeless shelters or spend time with the elderly. Hopefully college coaches will take notice to a young prospect that is constantly giving back.
