Opportunity has a way of presenting itself at the ideal time. Phenom Hoops is excited to announce that opportunity in the form adding Delaney Rudd to our staff as our Director of Girls Basketball. Without simply citing his Wikipedia page and long list of personal achievements, Rudd has definitely made his imprint within the bigger picture of North Carolina high school basketball. Between his professional career and coaching accomplishments, Phenom Hoops is extremely fortunate to have someone as significant as Rudd on the team.

Following his upbringing in North Carolina, Rudd went on to play four seasons at Wake Forest and was later selected as a fourth-round pick in the 1985 NBA Draft. His time between the NBA and playing overseas helped prepare him for the uncertainty that lies within coaching and developing high school prospects. After nearly 15 years of playing professionally, Rudd went on to form the Team Phoenix organization—where he now serves as the director of the program. Furthermore, he’s taken over as the head coach of the Winston-Salem Christian Girls team—who has only suffered six losses in three full seasons.
There are plenty of people plugged into the scene, but few with the resumé to match up with someone like Rudd. From student to teacher of the game, he’s as notable as any figure within the North Carolina basketball scene. Rudd will bring a fresh, new dynamic to the Phenom Hoops’ brand, and should definitely expand our coverage on the girl’s side of things.
