We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Treyvon Maddox of White Knoll High School.

We’ve seen Maddox multiple times this summer, stating, There were a lot of enticing young prospects on display, and Treyvon Maddox was basically as appealing as anyone. In all honesty, he’s eerily reminiscent of a current national prospect—but better. As a long, fluid, explosive 6-foot-6 forward prospect, Maddox essentially has all the tools to be a noteworthy name. Though his physical presence regularly stands out, his skill level is also quite high for his age and size. Maddox’s power when finishing, rebounding, and blocking shots is astounding. He utilizes his length extremely well, highlights great body control, and moves very well for his size. That being said, Maddox is certainly more than just a physical specimen. He handles the ball, creates for himself and others, and makes quality decisions with the ball in his hands. Maddox showed the ability to score from all three levels, set up open teammates, and use his versatility to consistently overwhelm opponents. Given his trajectory and general timeline, folks should expect to hear Maddox’s name a lot over the coming years.”

In all honesty, it’s difficult to watch Maddox and feel anything other than genuinely impressed at the entirety of his game. For starters, he’s a long, intelligent, explosive forward prospect with the necessary blend of interior and perimeter skills to cause a ton of matchup problems. Maddox is a physically imposing athlete who naturally overwhelms opponents with his size, fluidity, and sheer aggression. He’s very tough and skilled, able to apply relentless offensive pressure with or without the ball in his hands. Maddox looks to establish his interior presence early, but is more than capable of creating off the bounce or finding ways to score from perimeter. He’s a versatile defender and excellent rebounder with the ability to push quite well in transition. Right now, Maddox has the makings of a special prospect. Only time will tell just how much he will progress.
