We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Dylan Deluca of Metrolina Christian.

We’ve followed Deluca in every possible setting since his middle school days, including at our 150 Camp, where we stated, “Finishing up, we look at a player that already showcases a promising amount of skill, particularly for his size and age, Dylan Deluca. He’s a long, skilled forward prospect with a reliable jumper and terrific passing instincts. Deluca understands how to operate effectively around the basket, high-post, or as a spot-up threat from the perimeter. He’s capable of handling the ball in transition and breaking down opposing forwards at times, where he’s proven to be a solid penetrator and finisher. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would allow him to find even more scoring opportunities. Coach Harmon on Deluca: “Dylan has pretty good court vision and shoots the ball well when left open. He can improve on using his length defensively and playing more physical. He’s very coachable and has a great attitude. He’s a team player. Dylan can also continue to sharpen his handle.” Deluca continues to show steady strides within his progression and should emerge sooner or later as a useful contributor for Metrolina Christian.”

Since then, Deluca has only continued to make his name known throughout the state—both with his high school and travel team. He’s a fairly skilled forward prospect with the understanding of how to do the dirty work while picking his spots within the flow of the action. Deluca is a useful finisher or floor-spacing option with the ability to attack effectively off the dribble. He possesses somewhat of a wiry frame, utilizing his combination of toughness and energy to make an impact within the paint. Deluca is a useful defender and rebounder with IQ and the ability to generate success within a role at a young age. It’s still early, but folks should expect to see Deluca’s name over the coming years.
