We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Luke Bracey of Rock Hill High School and NLPB/Team 864.

We’ve seen Bracey numerous times over the last year, including at our SC Top 80 Camp prior to the season, where we stated, “Moving onto a player that was arguably the main glue-guy of this team during camp, Luke Bracey. He’s a big, strong-bodied forward prospect with a high motor and the ability to consistently affect all facets of the game on both ends of the floor. Bracey handles and passes the ball well for his size, but typically makes his presence felt as a blue-collar worker and two-way rebounder. He shoots the ball effectively for his size/position but mainly looks to set up around the basket and utilize his strength for interior buckets. Bracey displays nice defensive versatility and is able to contain three positions comfortably at the high school level. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a perimeter shooter, as it would make him a more lethal offensive threat. Coach Rudy on Bracey: “Luke is a talented kid. He can finish on post moves, knock down the jumper, and finish in traffic. He can be inactive on defense at times but is a threat in the paint. He looks to attack and has good touch around the rim.” Bracey enjoyed a productive showing at camp and could be poised for a big upcoming season at Rock Hill.”
Despite being a noteworthy football player, Bracey has continued to solidify his case as a next-level basketball prospect. He’s big, strong, versatile, and seems to naturally assume the glue-guy role within any team setting. Bracey does everything at an above-average rate, which allows him to consistently impact all facets of the game within the flow of the game. He’s a useful athlete with the ability to play above the rim or utilize his strength to outwork opponents on the glass. Bracey is fairly skilled and offers a nice blend of IQ, toughness, and unselfishness. He plays a physical brand of basketball and should have quite a few options when it comes to deciding which sport to pursue at the next level.
