Back in Virginia again, as we continue our trail around the state in bringing more attention to a state that is loaded with talent to be found. 2025 6’6 Sebastian Whitfield could be a name you start tracking more, as he has really elevated his game and shown how big of a threat he can be on the court as a scorer. Leading the charge at Cape Henry Collegiate, he accepted the role of being one of the go-to leaders for this team, and it has worked out well for him as he has earned another offer and more interests are coming his way.
We spoke to him about the latest going on and this season.
Phenom: How has it been stepping up as a leader for your team this year and how have you embraced that'
Whitfield: Well, with a lot of seniors graduating last year, I knew I was going to have to step up. So I just got in the gym and prepared for the season. I try and embrace the role by just leading by example and doing what my team needs for us to win.
Phenom: What would you say your role is with this team and how do you like to attack and operate on the court'
Whitfield: I would say I’m definitely a scorer on the team, and I just come into every game trying to contribute the most on offense and defense.
Phenom: Know it is early, but how has recruitment been going' Who has all offered and which schools have caught your eyes early on'
Whitfield: I have offers from Texas A&M and Old Dominion, but I have also received interest from Hampton, SMU, TCU, and Florida State. I also had a great visit to Old Dominion, so that is a school I definitely like.
Phenom: What was it like to get those early offers'
Whitfield: It was definitely a great feeling and just seeing progress on everything that I’ve worked on up to this point was great. The Old Dominion visit was great because the whole staff was very genuine and seemed truly invested in me as a prospect.
