High School Coach Evaluation:
Zhamare has made tremendous strides over the past couple of years. He has really put in a lot of work this past offseason. He has gained about 10-15 pounds of muscle to his frame and worked hard on his offensive skill set. If he puts his mind to it, he will definitely average a double-double this season. Zhamare’s game has truly evolved offensively. He is a real inside and outside threat who can score in multiple ways. Most people will be surprised how consistently Zhamare can hit the trey ball and shoot free-throws. Defensively, Zhamare is very tenacious on the boards and has the ability to control the paint with his shot blocking ability. Zhamare will definitely make a name for himself his last two years and set himself up to play on the next level. – Coach James Pope, Head Coach Surry High School
Coach Frank says:
Zhamare has become a well rounded player and an impact paint presence over the last three or four months that I have watched him in action. He is an extremely athletic and powerful forward with excellent quickness and bounce. He is a very good shot blocker and gets off the floor quickly, also closes on the basketball quickly getting some of his blocked shots coming from help position. He is a very good rebounder and an excellent repeat jumper, has great anticipation. Zhamare is a very good rebounder when out of position as he’s capable of grabbing boards that would normally be out of reach for even the most athletic of players. He is a very good finisher around the rim, he has begun finishing more aggressively often with a resounding dunk! An improving scorer who not only finishes inside but can handle well enough to create off the bounce. Zhamare can also knock down the mid range jumper and has seen more consistent success beyond the arc. He has a fluent stroke, comfortable and productive facing the rim. His offensive game has seen great strides over the summer and fall and he just keeps getting better with every game. Zhamare has very good footwork and mobility that allows him to defend away from the rim while also having the skill and athleticism to defend the paint. He is so active and quick he is able to contest and change many shots, repeat jump and contest again making that impressive athletic feat look routine. I’m excited about his continued growth and versatility and he should blossom into one the area’s biggest impact players.
