Personal:
Timon’s father Tim Jones played at Henrico graduating in 1989. His older brother Tim led Henrico to the 2013 state championship and earned Group AAA Virginia State Player of the Year honors. Tim Jones entertained a number of Division II offers before opting to play his college basketball at DIII Virginia Wesleyan where he was a three year starter at point guard and earned All ODAC honors.
HS Coach Evaluation:
Timon is a game changing guard. Defensively, he is a tenacious on the ball defender. His quickness and basketball IQ allow him to win his match up each night. His offensive skills have evolved tremendously in the past four years. He can efficiently attack and score at all three levels of the floor. His game should flourish at the next level in an up-tempo full court style. His skill set, IQ, and athleticism make him one of the best lead guards in the state of Virginia. – Coach Vance Harmon, Head Basketball Coach Henrico High School
Coach Frank says:
Timon has excellent athleticism and quickness, a tight handle and great bounce (38” vertical) but all of the offensive accolades, and there are plenty cannot excite you as much as his lockdown defense and ability to impact games on either side of the floor. Offensively he is a high IQ floor leader with excellent vision. He has explosive quickness and great balance using his body to protect the basketball as he slashes by defenders and gets to the rim where he can throw one down on you. Timon stays low to the ground when driving to the basket and his sudden change of direction agility allows him to suddenly pull up and get off a quick jumper with ease. He has really quick feet and stop and go action and hits the middle jumper at a high percentage. He is very good at using the crossover dribble or step back dribble move to create room for his shots. Timon is a top-notch passer and has good control with the ball in his hands showing the crafty moves to slip through tight areas and dish the ball off to his teammates. He also has great range and can hit the three pointer off the bounce or the catch and shoot. Defensively he is a dog! He can dominate the 1 on 1 defensively as he has the ability to stay in front of his man and disrupt with active hands and sound footwork. Gets a lot of steals due to his great anticipation skills, as he takes good angles on defense and has explosive acceleration. Timon is a game changing talent, one of the state’s best point guards. He should see plenty more Division I offers coming his way this season.
