Throughout the summer, players from across the region took advantage of the Phenom Hoops platform to elevate their games, expand their exposure, and make a lasting impression on our scouts. Whether it was through consistent production, improved skill sets, increased confidence, or an ability to impact winning, several prospects saw their stock rise in a significant way. As we begin our look at the Class of 2027, our scouts highlight five players who stood out and strengthened their recruitment with their play this summer.
2027 6’5 Connor May
A rising senior, May is a 6’5 prospect that has quietly produced each time we have watched him. Out of Swansboro HS, May has been an effective option on the court with what he is able to provide, whether it was a scoring presence inside and out, be an active presence on the glass with his frame and size, and operate from multiple levels. He has shown he can hurt you in finishing through defenders inside just as well as being able to stretch the court from outside.
2027 5’11 Kalou Fofana
Fofana was a new name personally for us at Phenom Hoops but he quickly earned our attention each time we watched him. He was able to set the tone and truly proved he could be an impact guard at the next level. Fofana is a tough, competitive two-way guard who consistently impacts winning. He sets the tone with his defensive intensity and disruptive presence while providing offensive value as a creator off the bounce and reliable perimeter shooter. His versatility, motor, and ability to influence both ends make him an intriguing prospect for college programs.
2027 6’6 Lawford Stratton
Another player that earned himself plenty of attention and has been garnering the attention of college coaches has been Stratton. His blend of size, shot-making, and athleticism certainly checks the early boxes in what college coaches would like to have at the next level. Stratton excelled well in being able to pick his spots and be a big threat from the perimeter and multiple other levels, showing tremendous confidence in his shot-making ability. But he mixes it up well with his ability to attack downhill as well.
2027 6’5 Jaden McCandies
McCandies was another player that consistently got the job done each time we watched him this summer. He possesses the size and scoring impact that easily turned the eyes of college coaches, and was a true leader on the court. McCandies is a skilled 6’6 wing who continues to attract attention from college coaches. He combines excellent size with smooth shot-making, deep range, and the ability to create effectively off the bounce. His steadily improving skill set and willingness to compete defensively make him an intriguing prospect at the next level.
2027 6’2 Cash Hall
Hall has been a known name on the Phenom platform and he only continued to trend in the right direction this summer. Hall is a skilled, intelligent guard best known for his ability to consistently knock down shots from beyond the arc. He also creates effectively for himself and others, initiates the offense, and applies scoring pressure both on and off the ball. His craftiness, multi-level scoring, defensive presence, and rebounding ability make him a valuable all-around contributor. We expect that to continue this upcoming high school season, as he could be a sneaky guard for college programs to watch.
