It is always a tough time for a player to battle through an injury, much like 2021 Demar Anderson did from Victory Christian.

It wasn’t an easy time for Anderson, especially being out for such a long period of time.  He simply couldn’t show what he set out to do during the season.

“When I first got injured, the first couple of months were hard because of the limited movement that could be done,” he told Phenom Hoops.  “Also, my mind wasn’t really focused because it was a lot to take on at one time but as weeks and months went by, I started to feel better.  Recovery became easy and I just took off from there mentally and physically, starting to feel healthier each and every day from then.”

With the amount of rehab that went into his recovery, Anderson admits that he lost a little bit of his game this past season but overall, it was just a great relief to get back on the court, get back into a rhythm, and get to work on developing his game. He actually finished the season really strong, averaging 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists per game.

With the injury behind him now, Anderson is focusing on what he needs to do to improve his game and grab the attention of college coaches.

“I would say I’m focusing on scoring on all three levels of the court efficiently and also being consistent with my game,” he replied.  “Another thing is I’m focusing on my defensive ability, also locking everything down in front of me.”

Anderson held a few offers from Appalachian State, USC Upstate, and Robert Morris before his injury, while a few other schools were showing interest his way. But now, he is looking to show he can be an even better player on the court, getting back to his prime, and grabbing the attention once again from college coaches.

Coaches Perspective: Victory Christian Marcus Dilligard

“Defensive perspective, he is an absolute beast. Was impressed with his defensive capability and he is a hard worker. Anderson also has a high basketball IQ but also is a quiet leader; does all the little things that coaches love, whether it is scoring or defending. He improved on his three-point shooting and once fully back, he should pick up right where he left off at.”
