The Hoop State Fall League is underway, giving our scouts plenty of topics and players to discuss over the next few weeks before the season ahead. We are just months away from the start of the season, but the Fall League gives us a nice preview of what to watch this upcoming season, as we dive into several storylines.
Getting a chance to watch some of the players for Charlotte Christian, this looks like an interesting team to track this season with what we saw on the court. Yes, you know the likes of 2029 Ayo Awosanya and company early on but there were a few other names that had strong showings during Week 1 of the Hoop State Fall League that will help bring balance to this team overall.
Two players that played well and deserved some attention were 2027 6’6 Austin Bradway and 2029 6’1 Dax Gill.
Starting off with an intriguing senior that played well throughout, Bradway could be a sneaky prospect that helps in a big way this upcoming season. As a 6’6 prospect that is built with a strong overall frame and is relentless with his attack, Bradway created a lot of havoc for opponents on the court with his ability to play inside and out, score off the bounce, and constantly apply pressure in getting downhill at the rim. When he was able to get inside, he also presented difficulty with his ability to finish or embrace contact, finding other ways to get to the line as well. His combination of size at 6’6, strength, and willingness to constantly stay aggressive will help this team in several areas this upcoming season. And then, you look at 2028 6’2 Dax Gill, a young prospect that had a strong showing and opened some eyes with his ability to knock down shots, he is another player that could bring solid value to a deep roster. In Game 1, he was able to knock down six 3-pointers, helping open up the offense and give this roster a threat from outside. Though he is on the younger side and this is a roster that has strong depth overall, look for Gill to help provide some burst off the bench for Charlotte Christian this upcoming season.
With established standouts leading the way and complementary weapons like Bradway and Gill emerging, Charlotte Christian has the depth, versatility, and offensive balance to create problems throughout the season. Bradway’s physicality and downhill approach, combined with Gill’s perimeter shooting, should give the Knights valuable production in different roles. If both continue building on their strong Fall League performances, this could be a deeper and more dangerous Charlotte Christian team than many expect.
