The Hoop State Fall League is underway, giving our scouts plenty of topics and players to discuss over the next few weeks before the season ahead. We are just months away from the start of the season, but the Fall League gives us a nice preview of what to watch this upcoming season, as we dive into several storylines.
One of the most intriguing players we have had a chance to watch this summer has been 2029 6’5 Ayo Awosanya, who announced he will be at Charlotte Christian this upcoming season. A roster that has balance and weapons all around, there isn’t much of a surprise that Awosanya looks to lead them all as a sophomore.
All summer long with Elite 1, Awosanya put on a show and was consistent with his play; you knew what you were going to get from him every weekend. And being more of a strong piece at Myers Park, Awosanya looks to be embracing being “the guy” for Charlotte Christian, as they will produce as long as he is producing.
Overall, they have a strong roster, but Awosanya just brings another level of play to the court, with his ability to be physical, play with an incredible motor, attack off the bounce and get to the rim, as well as be an impact player all over the court. When watching him in Week 1, and throughout the entire Fall League, we had this to say:
“Awosanya did what Awosanya has done all summer long… production, physicality, and motor. Awosanya was relentless with his ability to get paint touches and finish over defenders, embracing contact, attacking off the bounce, and being strong on the glass overall; much of what we will see all season long from him. He continues to be one of the clear leaders for this team and teams have trouble slowing him down, as he has presented himself as one of the consistent players in North Carolina.”
It has been clear all year long that Awosanya is ready for the challenge and will be looked at differently with this team; he will be the go-to option and will look to lead in a big way at Charlotte Christian this season.
