The NC Top 80 once again brought together some of the top talent from across the state, showcasing skill, competitiveness, and growth from North Carolina’s rising prospects. The event featured a mix of established names and emerging standouts who continue to elevate their games. Part 2 of our recap highlights several players who made strong impressions with their energy, versatility, and production throughout the day.

2027 Brayden Gatling – SouthWest Guilford

One of the more underrated guards in the state, Gatling continues to make his presence felt every time he steps on the floor. He plays with great pace, makes smart reads, and knows how to put points on the board in multiple ways. Competes hard on both ends and finds ways to impact winning beyond just scoring. His consistency and poise make him a name to know in North Carolina’s 2027 class.

2027 6’9 Charles Pur – The Burlington School

Pur’s mobility and motor continue to separate him from others his size. A high-energy big who runs the floor relentlessly, protects the rim, and competes for every rebound. His effort level is unmatched—diving for loose balls, challenging shots, and finishing above the rim. As his offensive game continues to expand, his upside looks tremendous.

2027 6’8 Cannon Deberry – Queens Grant

Deberry stood out with his effort, energy, and willingness to do the little things. He plays with great physicality, providing an interior presence on both ends while showing flashes as a lob threat and finisher. His ability to rebound, defend, and contribute in any role shows his value as a true team-first player who competes every possession.

2027 6’4 Caiden Jenkins – Phoenix Montessori Academy

Jenkins continues to show a mature and polished offensive approach. A confident creator with excellent size for his position, he scores efficiently from all levels and displays great shooting touch from the perimeter. Jenkins’ blend of off-ball movement, vision, and feel for the game make him one of the more intriguing perimeter scorers in his class.

2026 6’2 Marty Giant – Greensboro Day School

A tough, skilled guard who knows how to play the game the right way. Giant can create off the bounce, knock down shots with confidence, and finish strong through contact. He’s also a willing passer and engaged defender who makes winning plays. His IQ and ability to adapt to different roles make him a valuable piece in any backcourt.

2026 6’4 Jayden Gray – Clayton

Gray’s game continues to evolve, and he’s proving himself as one of the more athletic and dynamic guards in his class. Explosive off the bounce with excellent body control, he creates space for his jumper and can score in traffic. Defensively active and confident in his reads, Gray’s combination of athleticism and scoring touch should be catching the eyes of D2 programs across the state.
