Hoop Group Future All American Camp (Part 7)
By Chick Gillespie

This final installment of the Hoop Group Future All American camp will feature some Honorable Mention standouts. These young men were the unsung players in my mind from this years camp:

Terrence Clarke 6’6” 2021 SG
Rivers School (Weston, MA)
– Clarke is a gifted talent who showed off nice range and played with some toughness throughout the camp getting inside to score and getting into his opponents on defense. High upside for sure.

Henry Coleman 6’7” 2020 SF
Benedictine College Preparatory (Richmond, VA)
– Coleman didn’t get nearly enough touches in the contests I viewed but when he did he often times made something happen either getting to the basket or pulling up for a pure jumper. Team player with skills.

Marcus Dockery 6’1” 2021 PG
Theodore Roosevelt HS (Washington DC)
– As he did last week Dockery ran the show with an excellent handle and crafty passing along with the ability to catch defenders napping and get to the cup with a quick burst for the layup or sweet dish for a basket. Sneaky defender as well.

Joshua Gray 6’10” 2020 C
Knox School (St. James, NY)
– Consistency is his only downfall but that will surely come as time goes on. He has a decent frame to get inside to the basket and rebounds with force. He battles on defense and runs the floor well. Bigs do take time and his is definitely coming.

Devin Harris 6’7” 2020 SF
Sanford School (Hockessin, DE)
– Harris is getting closer to becoming the proverbial breakout player with an expanding offensive game including a new and improved jumper with some added range and a long frame to cause some havoc defensively. Definitely worth a look.

Zaire Rogers 6’5” 2020 SG
Notre Dame HS (Lawrenceville, NJ)
– On a team with no real size Rogers played more in the paint than normal and it seemed to agree with him. He rebounded well played good defense and took advantage of his opportunities on offense to put up some solid numbers all week.

Deivon Smith 5’11” 2020 PG
Grayson HS (Loganville, GA)
– A quick on quick PG Smith put the burners to work pushing the ball up the court and caused havoc with his speed on D. A good passer he racked up some pretty assists in the games I saw and scored it with finesse from driving layups to nice looking jumpers

Will Soucie 6’3” 2020 SG
Gill St. Bernard’s School (Gladstone, NJ)
– Soucie isn’t the best athlete out there but he is a solid basketball player always around the ball getting on the floor, making the extra pass and for good measure getting buckets with a smooth jumper and crafty inside moves.

Kieves “Deuce” Turner 6’0” 2020 CG
Malvern, PA Preparatory School
– Deuce is more 2 than 1 at this point but clearly sees the value in learning to play the point. He’s already versed in putting the ball in the cup from quick drives to money threes now he needs to master the art of the pass. He needs time to adjust.

Carter Whitt 6’1” 2021 CG
Leesville Road HS (Raleigh, NC)
– Whitt was another player who excelled making solid basketball plays and sharing the rock with his teammates. He was deceptively effective with the ball in his hands making some nifty passes and played some ballhawking defense to boot.

Nazir Maleek-Williams 6’0” 2020 PG
St. Joseph’s HS (Montvale, NJ)
– This young man was clever with the rock getting his teammates the ball in scoring areas and scoring his points when deemed necessary. Used his quickness to pressure opponents into turnovers or pilfers of his own to trigger offense.

John Wilson 5’10” 2020 PG
Abraham Lincoln HS (Brooklyn, NY)
– Wilson is another super fast lead guard who simply plays in transition at all times. He pushes the ball upcourt looking to catch the defense reeling and makes some very good passes for scoring opportunities. Is also quite the pest on defense too.

Some more HM players from the camp include the following youngsters to watch out for in the future:

Dominic Carrington 5’7” 2020 PG Our Lady of Mount Carmel HS (Essex, MD)
Enoch Cheeks 6’3” 2020 CG Kimball Union Academy (Meriden, NH)
Dowar Jioklow 6’8” 2020 SF Flint Hill School (Oakton, VA)
Julian McGowan 6’6” 2020 SF Notre Dame HS (Lawrenceville, NJ)
Darius Miles 6’6” 2020 SF Theodore Roosevelt HS (Washington, DC)
Jason Palmer 6’4” 2020 SG South Shore HS (Brooklyn, NY)
Luis Risquez 6’9” 2020 PF First Love Christian Academy (Washington, PA)
Kamhron Roundtree 6’6” 2020 SF Academy Park HS (Sharon Hill, PA)
Burke Smith 6’10” 2020 C Trinity Episcopal School (Richmond, VA)
Jamir Watkins 6’6” 2020 SF Trenton Catholic Academy (Hamilton, NJ)
Tyrese Watson 6’2” 2020 PG Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast HS (Drexel Hill, PA)
Zaakir Williamson 6’6” 2021 PF West Catholic Preparatory HS (Philadelphia, PA)
Sami Wylie 5’10” 2020 PG Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia, PA)

With this baker’s dozen we wrap up our coverage of the Hoop Group’s Future All American camp.
