What Has Been Said By Phenom Hoops:
“Petty has drastically improved in the last year and it is clear that D1 schools should be looking his way in a big way. He has a mature understanding and feel for the game, especially being 6’4 now. He plays with confidence in being able to rise up in catch-and-shoot situations as well as off the bounce. Petty is a strong creator and takes high-IQ shots, along with making the right reads for his team. That doesn’t mention his ability to be an impact player on the defensive end. Really good overall player with a well-rounded game.”
“In somewhat of a similar vein, it’s perplexing to try and understand why Petty doesn’t have more action within his recruitment. He seemingly checks all the boxes as an athletic, smooth-shooting wing with the size, skill, and physical tools to be a versatile problem for opponents. Petty is a natural glue-guy who can operate within a role or expand his production as needed. He’s a useful rebounder and switchable defender who has no glaring weaknesses on either end of the floor. Petty’s ability to affect the game in so many ways should make him an obvious target for college coaches.”
“The improvement Petty has made over the last year or so is quite impressive; he looks bigger and stronger and is playing with the utmost confidence as a senior leader. What makes him impressive is his impact on both sides of the ball, showing his ability to knock down shots off the catch and with range, score off the bounce with his jumper, and also finish strong off the bounce with his athleticism. He confidently scored the ball in a variety of areas but also made unselfish plays in setting up his teammates. Defensively, he excels in being a pest with his on-ball defense. Petty is a true two-way player that impacts the game in so many ways.”
“2026 Dacen Petty was a player that some may not have known before the season, but he proved his worth for Christ School, helping earn yet another state championship. Petty was a key piece throughout the season, impacting the game in so many ways, showing a strong understanding of how to operate within the offense, and coming up big in key situations. He was a key scoring factor on the court, not only opening up the offense with his three-point shooting at 45 percent on the season but also being a difference-maker in creating for himself and others. And that doesn’t mention his scrappy play on the defensive end, creating havoc and steals to lead to easy buckets on the offensive end.”
