If you have been following North Carolina basketball as of late, you may have seen that 2024 Isaiah Washington from Winston-Salem Christian National has been playing on a whole different level this season.

Whether it was his most recent games against OTE where he averaged 29.5ppg in two days, or over the last few months in which Washington has really been taking a lead role and showing his scoring ability, Washington has been locked in.

Phenom Hoops had to catch up with the 2024 prospect to ask about his incredible play as of late, along with a little recruitment update.

When asked about what his mentality has been as of late on the court, Washington had this to say to Phenom. “Just a prove everybody wrong mentality and also I have the coach to push me to be my best.” He has been doing that in a big way, as Washington mentioned that he is just finding ways to get into the gaps, read the defense, and also credit his teammates for setting him up to score.

His stellar play hasn’t gone unrecognized, as his recruitment has been picking up as well. Washington added a new offer to his list, as Wichita State has entered the picture.

“I’m super grateful and I want to thank the coach and staff that offered me, and I think it is a great school,” he replied. “I’ve heard they have a great staff that helps develop your game as well as your body, and they are in a great conference that is very competitive from top to bottom. As far as coaches, I’ve spoken to Coach Waterman and he is really down-to-earth and a player’s coach. I expect to keep building a stronger relationship with them and all the staff throughout the year.”

Wichita State now joins North Carolina A&T, Eastern Kentucky, Florida International, and Texas Rio Grande Valley, but Washington also mentioned schools like Arkansas, Mississippi State, UNCG, SMU, and San Diego have been expressing interest his way.

“(The schools showing interest) just pretty much want to build a relationship and send me games I can watch and talk about myself as a player and their campus. Most of the current schools that have been in contact with me the strongest haven’t offered me as of yet, but as I keep working on my game, making better reads, and showing my entire game, I think that will change.”
