When you look in the Charlotte area, there have been and still are several impressive duos that should be receiving plenty of attention.  Though we have talked about many in the past, the duo of 2025 Ahmari Hicks and 2026 Jordan Buzzard should start being talked about a lot more around the area as one of the top duos heading into the season. East Meck is coming off a 14-13 overall record last year, but this is a group that has another year under their belt as well as these two clearly taking the next step in their development.

Hicks finished the season last year having a strong year, averaging 16.0 points per game.  He continues to be an effective multi-level scorer and clearly should be on the radars of college programs around the area with what he provides.  Buzzard has such intrigue and after averaging 9.7 points and 8.4 rebounds, he has a chance to take yet another step in helping lead this team.  His blend of size and skill set are impressive, as he continues to flourish as a matchup nightmare.

After combining for 25 points per game last year, the duo at East Meck has a chance to really enter their name with some of the best duos around the area.  And the Eagles hope to use that to fly high this upcoming season.

2025 Ahmari Hicks

“2025 Ahmari Hicks would be a play that I would have my eyes on more and could be a sneaky get for a future program. The 6’2 guard from East Meck had a strong showing last year in which he led the team in scoring at 16.0ppg and shot 41 percent from behind the arc. He only continued that strong showing this summer, as he continues to flourish in a variety of ways, consistently brings a threat to the perimeter with his outside shot-making, and has been showing to be more assertive offensively over the years.  Hicks excels in getting to his spots, whether off catch-and-shoot situations or creating for himself, comfortably knocking down shots from behind the arc or from the mid-range. But he has good athleticism and length as well to finish at the rim.  He competes well on both sides, making him a reliable 3-and-D type prospect, playing within the offense and what the team needs but also having the ability to fill it up when needed.”

2026 Jordan Buzzard

“At 6-foot-8 with his combination of size, fluidity, and athleticism, there’s certainly a lot to like. Buzzard is already a game-changing defender with terrific instincts as a rebounder, shot-blocker, and switchable piece. For CP3 EYCL, he routinely operates as a modern version of an interior defender. While he’s probably more of a long-term forward, Buzzard has no issue anchoring the paint and outworking various types of opponents. Offensively, he finishes, spaces the floor, and is capable of attacking off the bounce. Buzzard plays above the rim and fills the lane effectively in transition. He understands how to produce as a complimentary piece but can also expand his production when necessary.”
