The Class of 2028 may still be early in their high school journeys, but several players across the NCISAA are already making their presence felt. Whether it’s through production, physical tools, or high-level flashes, these young prospects are positioning themselves as names to watch in North Carolina. As programs begin to reload and prepare for the season, this group is quietly building momentum, and they’re ready to make noise in a big way.
2028 6’3 Micah Gunter (GDS)
I think this is going to be a big year for Gunter, as he will be relied on to lead the charge, but I’m a big fan of his game. The dynamic guard was able to flourish and step up in big ways last season for GDS, and more will be on his plate this year. He is a threat on so many levels with his shot-making, range, ability to create, speed, and overall feel with the ball in his hands. Gunter is a natural scorer on the court and leads his team well. Whether he is creating for himself or others, he is one who should really open more eyes this season.
2028 6’8 Andrew Juergens (GDS)
I’ve been so impressed with his growth as a player in the last few years and Juergens will be a key piece to this year’s team. We are talking about a player with tremendous length as a wing, who has shown to not only be a big threat from behind the arc but can attack and create for himself as well. His confidence from outside is impressive, getting to his spots and knocking down shots, but he has improved his athleticism, his overall feel, and ability to score in a variety of ways, which will allow him to flourish this season.
2028 6’3 Tristan Williams (Providence Day)
Williams is one that I’m eager to learn more about, but he has had some good overall showings this summer. The younger brother of Grant Williams, Tristan has shown that he can be a strong, sturdy force that can fill it up offensively. Every time we have watched him, Williams finds ways to score the ball effectively, and I think he could carry that same momentum into the upcoming high school season. He brings good physical tools that should earn more attention this season, and could be a key piece to PDS this year.
2028 6’7 Baganley Donzo/ 2028 6’5 Mohamed Donzo (Trinity Christian)
The Donzo brothers have been a force on the court every time we have watched them. Their physicality and overall frame are quite impressive, as they can certainly overpower several opponents with how strong they are. However, both have shown also that they can produce when they need to, whether it is attacking and bullying opponents, finishing through contact, scoring inside and out, and also attacking the glass. They should only continue to have success and lead at Trinity Christian.
